He's NOT my DAD!
Saturday we took a little trip to Winslow to go to Walmart with Kyle's mom... we're just walking around, getting all the stuff that Kyle's mom was in need of.. and we happened to be in the food section. Let me paint a picture for you...
We're walking down the bakery section...
thinking.... We wish there was little food samplers like Sams Club and Costco..
What do you know?! There happen to be a stand right ahead!
The Lady working there looks at Kyle and says "Would you a sample?!" Kyle replies "Sure! But there are three different kind, which one should I choose?!" The Woman replies "You can try all three if you would like."
I know what I want... so I say "I think I'll have this one..." and I reach out to get one..
The Lady grabs my hand and says "Don't touch the table!! If you would like one you can ask your father and he get get one for you!"
Astonished, I look at Kyle and say... "This is my husband!" and Kyle says almost as astonished, and at the same time "This is my wife!" as we both reach in to hug each other
The lady looks at us in amazement and apologetic... so I look at Kyle and ask "Dad- is it ok if I have some?!"
We can't decide if it was a compliment or not... or who the compliment would be to... any suggestions?! haha

One Fun weekend!
Friday we were able to go to Buckeye like I mentioned in my last blog, and we had so much fun! Saturday it was my mom's birthday so we all went to the park by the lakes and really enjoyed each other's company. We played a little football and Kyle and I had fun swinging on the swings.. we had some hamburgers and had some amazing Strawberry Dream cake *yummy* and then headed back home on Sunday. I guess I love going to Buckeye so much because it still feels so much like home to me... I love it there.
Yesterday was... incredible.
We woke up at about 6:30 to a phone call from Kyle's principal saying that his school was on a two hour delay, because of how bad the weather was. We looked outside to see what the weather was going to be like for our little outing to Snowbowl, and everything was covered in snow. That's a pretty good storm if Holbrook gets 5 inches of snow. So we called my dad and they were already on the road headed up here, so we figure alright we better start heading up cuz it's gonna take us awhile in this weather. So we headed out at around 20 miles an hour toward Flag. The roads were pretty bad until we got a little past Winslow which was really good! About half way to Flag we had a stop really fast because a Fed Ex truck had flipped on it's side, which caused us to have a pretty good spin. But we landed in a fresh pile of snow so that' was good- I would have rather landed in that than the Fed Ex truck or another car.
After 2 1/2 hours (we usually make it there in about an hour and fifteen minutes) we finally arrived in Flagstaff. The whole way there I was pretty nervous that we weren't going to be able to make it there on time, but
when we came into Flag the sun started to come out and the clouds started to turn into big white fluffy clouds instead of dark dreary clouds. Well we finally made it to the bottom of the mountain and hoped in with my dad, Chris, Steven, Derek, and My Uncle Gary and started to the top of the mountain to SnowBowl.
When we first got there we met up with Stormy, Alex, and Seth and we weren't very smart, and the first run we went on was a blue run (kinda hard) especially because the mountain and just gotten a foot of snow, so there was fresh powder everywhere, not good for snowboading. It was only my second time boarding, and Kyle's first, so it took us a good hour to get down the mountain. Kyle got stuck pretty good in a powder pile so it took him awhile to get out, and he was exhausted after that. We were both a little worn out at the end of that run so we went into the lodge to chill for a little bit. I decided that I wanted to do something that i already knew how to do, so my dad and I went and rented me some skis and Kyle took about an hour nap in the lodge :) After a little run to get me to remember and 2 runs from the tippy top of the mountain with my dad and Derek, I went to the lodge to see how Kyle was doing. He wasn't there! He's such a good sport and started at the green runs (easier ones) and we was doing great. So the rest of the day we went on the green runs which was an excellent idea. Kyle got to figure out how to board without getting caught in powder hills, and I got to ski pretty relaxed while watching Chris and Kyle biff it :)
Afterward, we finally saw our whole group again and we all went to eat a bun huggers. It was amazing. At the end of a ski day I'm always hungry, so it was the prefect place to eat. It was awesome.
We came home and the roads were amazing. There was no snow on the road and everything was nice and clear. It took us a little over an hour to get home, we showered, climbed in bed, and were sleeping by 9. It was awesome.
We both woke up this morning and are completely sore. From our heads to our toes!
Tonight we get to travel to Thatcher with a group of Kyle's students, spend the night, perform tomorrow, and some back tomorrow night. It's been a busy couple days, but they've been so fun!

I'm going.. SNOWBOARDING!! yay
Can I just say that I am totally excited about for this weekend and monday?!?!! This Friday night we're going to see my parents, which I always love to do, for my Mom's birthday. I'm really excited because all the kids are coming and I know how much she loves to have her family together. annnddd Monday... we're going snowboarding!!! I haven't been in like 3 or 4 years and I'm really excited that I get to go again!
When we were younger our Dad would take us kids skiing every year, but the past few years we haven't been able to so it's going to be really fun to go with us four kids again! It would be even awesomer (if that's a word) if my dad was able to get off work, but it's kind of short notice so we're not sure if he'll be able to, but we'll keep our fingers crossed!
Kyle has never been (his family went to Hawaii, our family went skiing and Disneyland, rough lives huh? haha jk) so we're really excited to see him the first couple runs down the slope! He's really good at picking things up though so I'm sure he'll do juuustt fine. I'm so excited!! YAY!
I have officially completed my scrapbook of our wedding and Hawaii (minus our snorkling page because they were on an underwater camera and I'm lazy and haven't gotten it developed yet) I'm so super proud of myself! :) Meghan gave me a super good idea on her blog (thanks meghan!) I got a mini-scrapbook for Christmas and since I have nothing else to scrapbook, i could start on our First year! like first house, first christmas, thanksgiving.. all that kinds of stuff.. I never thought about doing that before but I really liked her idea!
Did I mention that I'm going snowboarding on Monday?! and that I'm super excited about it?!

Life is rollin' by
WOW. Can I just say that this has been the craziest two weeks?!
Last weekend Kyle had a music conference in Mesa, so we were able to go down and stay in the Marriott in Mesa for absolutely free because the school paid for it! While Kyle was at classes all day long Friday and Saturday, I was able to go hang out with my parents and I was able to see one of Derek's soccer games which was really fun! I don't really get to go to things that Derek is apart of so it was really fun to be able to go and watch!
We came home late Saturday night, and Sunday I was called to be the Sunbeams primary teacher.. which is kind of an exciting calling! I had the same calling in Buckeye when I was still living with my parents, so I feel like I'm one step ahead of the game with that!
One of the major things that has been going on was the opening of the George Gardner Performing Arts Center which is the new High School Auditorium. Kyle's Dad, George, had put together (with the help of many people) a play, about 20 years ag
o, which is called "Holbrook" so they asked Kyle if he would take a few of the scenes from the play and direct them for the opening concert. Its a brand new auditorium so they were trying to figure out all the sound and light equipment so for the past two weeks Kyle has been at the Holbrook HS until at least 10:30 every night helping out to help the entire program go smoothly. This past week I was able to go over and help with phone calls and making sure all the little odds and ends were taken care of, so that was fun to get to work together with Kyle and not sit and wait for him to come home :) It sure made for week full of late nights, along with school and working.
Last night was the actual performance, and it was amazing. The play was only a portion of it, they had Indian Dances, Mexican Dances, and a number of different talented artists. Kyle's brother Brent was chosen to write a song about their Dad, and it was amazing. You could feel the spirit so strong when he was singing. We were all a little nervous about how the entire show would be, but they really pulled it off- it was so good. I'm really proud of Kyle and how good he did.
This weekend was the first time that I had ever been with Kyle's entire family together at once. It's hard for them to all get together when one lives in New York and another lives in Oregon, but they were all able to be here for the dedication. There were a lot of laughs and good times.
We are really excited for March to come along, Kyle's mom invited us to go to New York with her to go see Brent, Jodie, and their kids. I've never been anywhere other than the states that touch AZ (minus New Mexico) and Hawaii, so I'm really excited to be able to go somewhere! We are pretty positive we're gonna go to The Lion King on Broadway, and I couldn't be more thrilled!

Goals
Today as i was reading through some of the goals that I wrote as a missionary I read something that really made me think. President Bowen (my mission president in Barcelona Spain from 2000 to 2002) taught us a new way to write goals for our lives. He invited us to find 6-7 Christ like attributes that we would like to improve or emphasize and write a goal from the perspective of what people will say about us after we die. But in first person. Then fins a scripture that shows that quality.
One of the quality's that I wrote was virtuous and one of the lines that I wrote said: "My words and actions are never such as to offend the spirit, even when that might offend others."
For some reason that really impacted me today and as I am writing my new years resolutions it is becoming a theme. I need to remember that all I do in this life is for one singular purpose, "...to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. Moses 1:39" and everything else is just a vehicle for this purpose.
I hope everyone has a happy new year and whether you are a "new years resolution" type of person or not, best wishes in all you hope to accomplish in 2008.
